This router has been configured to run alongside your existing router (known as a dual router configuration or dual router setup), this means you will have 2 gateways out on to the Internet, 1 secure behind your encrypted VPN router and 1 through your normal router giving you the best of both worlds!

We recommend WireGuard Protocol if your VPN provider supports WireGuard on a router. (Something to consider when purchasing your next VPN subscription)! Simply because WireGuard is the faster of the Two Protocols, OpenVPN has been around a lot longer but has slower throughput. This Linksys WRT1200AC router has enhanced DD-WRT firmware with full WireGuard, OpenVPN Client & server integration.

All devices connected to this VPN Router either by Ethernet or WI-FI will be protected behind the VPN connection.

Questions and Answers

Q. Does this router replace my modem?
A. No, the Linksys WRT1200AC DD-WRT VPN router is not a replacement modem, it is a router only, It has NO built in modem. It requires connecting to your ISP modem/router combo as pictured in our instruction leaflet included with the router. (Some ISP modem/routers allow modem mode if you prefer but not all).

Q. Can you program the router with all the necessary files for my VPN provider?
A. We can Program all necessary Config's, Certificates & fully test the router for you if you provide your VPN credentials. It will then work straight out of the box.

Q. What do you need from me after i purchase the router?
A. You can provide your VPN credentials during payment in PayPal notes (PLEASE remember to press SAVE) or via Contact us after your purchase, please provide the following:- VPN Providers Name, Username, password & which server you prefer. Sometimes we may require a 2FA code from you with in a given time frame, sent from your vpn provider when we access your VPN encrypted credentials required for use in a router configuration. (If you don't state a server we always set to a UK Server! We will always configure Wireguard if your VPN provider supports it on a router!)
Please make sure these credentials are 100% correct with Capitals etc where required! (We strongly recommend you copy and paste these to avoid typing errors)
If NO details are provided during or after your purchase, we will dispatch the router without the VPN section being configured and you will need to configure these details yourself! So it's important you don't forget to get these details to us if you want us to configure the VPN client section!

Q. What if I am concerned about giving you my VPN credentials?
A. We recommend in this case you change the VPN password once you've received and tested the Router, But please remember the password will need to updated in the router also! Sometimes changing the password can break the vpn certificates so please ask if unsure.

Q. What if I don't currently have a VPN service?

Q. What's a VPN Kill-Switch?
A. A VPN Kill-Switch is a critical piece of your VPN security solution which we program into our routers, this feature will ensure that your true IP address is never exposed on-line in the event your VPN should ever fail. If you don't wish to have this great feature please let us know when you supply your VPN credentials.

Q. Why is a VPN slower than my normal line speed?
A. Please Note: (NOT all VPN providers are equal to start with)!
Any VPN service will always give you a small loss in speed, this is due to the hardware having to encrypt every packet of data sent and received as well as adding a little latency.
This is why routers with less powerful CPU's and Ram (hardware) only produce 20-30% of your line speed. Simply put the better/faster the main processor (CPU) is, the faster your VPN will be!
